Summer seminars
Orchestral Workshop

Advanced Level
Free Room and Board for Qualified College Level Orchestral Musicians
Monday, July 11th, 2pm through Wednesday, July 20th
Individual Study Saturday, July, 16th.
Purpose and Organization
This course is organized for young instrumentalists who have already attained
a high degree of proficiency at the college level. The course will enable
them to acquire and further develop their orchestral experience, particularly
in their relationship with a conductor and the personal musical enrichment
which this can create. This course is intended for the training of orchestral
conductors and is taught by Yves Cohen.
Audition and Registration Information :
To audition, you will need a complete resume and an audio tape or CD.
For the tape and CD, select the important and/or difficult passages from
each piece of the program and include a small passage (5 minutes at the
most) of a solo piece of your choice. Although the seminar takes place
in France, send these to Sandra Posner (see address below). You will be
notified of the status of your audition as soon as possible. Please include
your e-mail address and phone number.
If you are selected, we will need to have all your registration materials
(sent to the Wilmette, Illinois address listed below) within one week
of the day you were notified of your acceptance. These materials include
the Release Form and Registration Form, which may be found by clicking
on each form from the menu on the left, a photocopy of your International
student ID, and the refundable deposit check for $500. A receipt will
be sent to you immediately upon receipt of the check. This deposit secures
your place in the Seminar and is refunded in two stages: half upon your
arrival in France, and the remainder upon completion of the Seminar. The
exchange rate will be based on the rate for the day that your deposit
was placed into the account.
We do not mail out music parts for the audition. If your library doesn't
have these parts, Kalmus sells them (1-800-434-6340). The airfare and
travel arrangements are your responsibility.
You must have insurance for yourself and your instrument.
